Bhaskar Sting : Give me 1.25 Lakh, I guarantee I will get you an 18-20-year-old girl from Bihar, have settled 10-15 relationships so far.
In Morena
district, a network of brokers who buy and sell girls from Bihar and Uttar
Pradesh for one and a half lakh rupees is active to get older men married.
Recently, the case was revealed when a girl brought from Ambah from Bihar in
Ambah accused her in-laws of harassment. On the complaint of this girl who
turned out to be a minor in the investigation, the action is being taken to
register a case against her husband and her in-laws.
After this case, Dainik Bhaskar did a sting operation and
contacted the people associated with such network, then a broker bluntly said -
Give me 1.25 lakh rupees, I guarantee I will buy you to 18 to 20 years old girl
from Bihar. He also claimed to have 10 to 15 marriages by forging such
purchases. There are more than two dozen brokers active in the network, who are
looking for youths who are unable to get married even after they are
financially prosperous. These brokers buy girls from Bihar, Banaras, Chhatarpur
for more than 100 middle-aged virgins every year by taking a fee of Rs 50,000.
This trend has also increased rapidly in the upper and rich communities.
The serious thing is that 50 per cent of these brides, after
staying in the in-laws' house for two to three months, disappear with their
belongings. Half of these cases do not even reach the police stations due to
fear of social disgrace. A similar case was revealed in Ambah recently when the
girl complained against her in-laws accusing them of harassment.
Cheating Found: The girl who was bought for around 0.5- 1 lakh
absconded, missing in the police station.
1. A young man from a wealthy family living in Ganeshpura area
of the city brought a bride from Chhatarpur for one lakh rupees. Three months
later, during the lockdown, the woman came out of her mother-in-law's Nainagarh
road carrying bags in the afternoon and boarded a bus to Gwalior. From here she
took a bus and reached her village Chhatarpur. The young man gave an
application in City Kotwali and informed about his wife being missing but after
the news of her arrival at home, the family sat silent.
2. A young man from a rich family living in Jaura brought a
bride from Bihar for one lakh rupees through a broker six months ago. For two
months her daughter-in-law lived in the house harmoniously. After this, she ran
along with the cash and jewellery kept in the house. Fearing social shame, the
family did not register a complaint with the police station.
The broker said - I want 50 thousand, I will get you married in
this season only

Broker: Okay, see me tomorrow.
I live in Gwalior. Where do you want to meet, Gwalior or Morena?
Whatever you want.
Bhaskar - How much will they spend
Broker: Panditji must have told. It will cost 1.25 lakh rupees.
Bhaskar - It should not happen that our son becomes a victim of
fraud.
Broker: We guarantee, nothing like this will happen.
Bhaskar- Money to be paid at one time or in instalments.
Broker: Give me 50 thousand when it's done.
Bhaskar - The girl must be of a young age.
Broker: Brother, get it, I have a party in Vikram Ganj Bihar. My wife
also from the same village. I have done 15 ties so far. How old will your son
be and what is his colour.
Bhaskar - 34-35 years old, dark coloured, but the girl should
not be less than 20-22 years old.
Broker: You do not take tension, you will get 18 to a 19-year-old girl.
There are many in Gwalior too. I am guaranteeing I will do a solid job. If the
party comes, its expenses will be yours, and not there’s. I will go to Bihar,
bring the party and then talk.
Bhaskar - Don't worry about your expenses.

Hyderabad: Contract marriage menace continues, racket busted, four arrested
Four people, including two women, were arrested in Hyderabad on 26 November 2018 for their involvement in a contract marriage racket.
They were arrested from a house in Mailardevpally, while the wedding-ceremonies were still going on.
Among the four arrested, one was a Sudanese, who was the 'groom', and the other three, all residents of Hyderabad, served as marriage brokers and witnesses to the 'nikah.
The 31-year-old Sudanese, Wail Mohammed, had paid Rs. 1L to Habib the agent, for the 'bride', for a three-month contract marriage.
The wedding was subsequently organized at a house in Roshan Colony, Vattepally (Mailardevpally), Monday.
The SOT got a whiff of the same and inspected the house, where they found the contract marriage was already underway.
Wail, Jahanuma-resident Habeeb, Shamem and Shabana were subsequently nabbed and cops also seized Wail's passport, two fake marriage agreements, one stamp pad, Rs. 1.1 lakh cash and $300.
Contract marriages aren't a new thing in the old city of Hyderabad.
It's rather a pretty prevalent practice, involving 'agents', who are city residents and Gulf nationals, who arrive in India on visit visa. These parties lure poor families and convince them to marry off their daughters against a huge sum.
Trend
After the 'nikah' gets done, the new helpless and hapless 'bride' is trafficked out of the country on forged documents arranged by the agent.

13-yr-old bride’s father sentenced to life term; grandmom, husband get 10 yrs
Nainital: The district and sessions court in Almora has sentenced the father of a 13-year-old bride to life imprisonment while her 38-year-old husband and her grandmother have been ordered to undergo rigorous imprisonment of 10 years each. The court held that “no sympathy” should be shown to the girl’s father, a resident of Khola village, and slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on him on Monday.
The court order comes just days after the Supreme Court ruled that sexual intercourse between a man and his wife below 18 years of age will count as rape and the husband can face up to 10 years’ imprisonment under the IPC or even a life term under the POCSO Act. The apex court had also said that child marriages should be declared void and stringent punishment should be prescribed against family members who promote and perform such marriages.
In this case, the court in Almora has awarded the father of the minor bride life imprisonment under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 370 (4) (trafficking a minor) of the Indian Penal Code. He was also awarded rigorous imprisonment of two years under Section 10 of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. All sentences will run concurrently, the court said.
The husband of the underage bride, a resident of Aligarh in UP, was also awarded rigorous imprisonment of 10 years under Section 370 (4) of the IPC and rigorous imprisonment of 10 years under Section 120B of the IPC. Under Section 10 of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, he was awarded rigorous imprisonment of two years. His sentences will run concurrently and a fine of Rs 15,000 has also been imposed on him.
The grandmother of the minor, meanwhile, has been awarded rigorous imprisonment of 10 years under Section 370 (4) of the IPC and rigorous imprisonment of 10 years under Section 120B of the IPC. She has been slapped with a fine of Rs 10,000.
Four others, including family members and people from the village, have also been awarded a 10-year jail term each while three people were acquitted of all charges. Police had registered a case against 10 people in February after receiving a complaint about a child marriage being conducted in Khola village.
Taking a tough stand on the matter, sessions judge Gyanendra Kumar Sharma said that the convicts had ruined the life of a girl child. “In this case, I am of the view that the crime committed by the convicts is not a crime against any individual alone, but against society, which affects the grass root level of society in general and the few socially and economically backward areas of Uttarakhand in particular,” the order said.
The order further said, “The court considers there should be no sympathy with the father of the victim, who has arranged the marriage of a 13 years 7 months old girl child with a man of 38 years. In my opinion, the maximum punishment prescribed by law under Section 370 (4), IPC should be awarded to the convict, because it was his volition act to solemnize the marriage of his daughter (sic).”
The court also observed that the fine imposed on the convicts may not be sufficient for compensation and rehabilitation of the victim. The case has been recommended to the District Legal Services Authority, Almora, so that it can determine the compensation amount which would be kept as a fixed deposit in the name of the girl.

Bihar Jat Sabha supports Om Prakash Dhankar's 'Bihari wives' remarks
Having faced flak for his "Bihari wives" remarks, Haryana BJP Kisan Morcha president Om Prakash Dhankar today received support from unexpected quarters with Bihar Jat Sabha coming in his defence, saying there's nothing wrong in inter-state marriage alliances.
Blaming the media for misrepresenting Dhankar's statement, Bihar Jat Sabha president Shiv Pratap Singh today said that Dhankar never suggested paying money for Bihari brides.
On the contrary, Dhankar merely suggested formalising and registering such inter-state marriage alliances, Singh said, adding that he will extend full support to Dhankar in this endeavour.
Singh's statements were supported by various Khap Panchayats of Haryana and also by famous Hindi writer and former chairperson of Social Welfare Board Mridula Sinha.
"Whole of India is a village and there's nothing wrong in such marriage alliances," Sinha said, while speaking at a function organised by Samajik Jagriti Manch, wherein various social issues such as unmarried youths, female foeticide, inter-state marriages, human trafficking and rising crime were discussed here.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhankar expressed concern over the falling sex ratio in Haryana and suggested connecting all ultrasound centres in the state to a common server to check their misuse.
Earlier this month, Dhankar had suggested that if BJP comes to power in Haryana then all the bachelors in the state will get Bihari girls for marriage.

Four girls sold for 1.20 lakh each rescued
Updates from TOI
KOLKATA: A villager from Basanti in South 24-Parganas has single-handedly succeeded in rescuing his teenaged daughter and three other girls from his village from a dance bar in remote Uttar Pradesh. The girls had been trafficked last October by a tout who is also the rescuer's brother-in-law. It was a train ticket that accidentally fell out of the tout's pocket that led the father to the girls.
A complaint was lodged against the tout at Basanti police station on Saturday.
Last October, Mannan Sk turned up at Chaprakhali village and told brother-in-law Barkat Laskar that he was looking for some young girls to serve as helps in 'respectable' homes in Delhi. The pay, he quoted was much higher than what Barkat could hope to earn in a month. Barkat readily agreed to send one of his daughters with Mannan. He also arranged for three other girls from the village.
"They left for Delhi in October but never called home after that. Mannan would turn up every few months and hand over money to the families. He would assure us that the girls were well and their employers are satisfied. If questioned further, he would get irritated and ask how would the girls be sending home money if they were not in safe hands? But he never got them to speak to us," Barkat said .
In the first week of June, Mannan returned to Chaprakhali and met Barkat and the other parents at a tea stall. He paid them what the girls had apparently earned, but Barkat wasn't convinced. Even as Mannan was bringing out the cash from his pockets, a piece of paper fell to the ground. Mannan didn't notice, but Barkat picked it up after the tout left. It turned out to be a train ticket from a remote town in UP to Howrah. Barkat claimed the town was Ukhao or Ukhau.
Without informing Mannan, Barkat left for this location the next day. He claims he spent the next 10 days scouring all red light areas and every dance bar in that part of UP. He also got in touch with people involved in trafficking of girls from West Bengal and Nepal. Finally, he located his daughter in a dance bar. The three other girls were also with her. The desperate father got in touch with the local police, who immediately conducted a raid. The girls were rescued and escorted to the station with Barkat to catch a train to Howrah. The group reached Basanti on Saturday.
"We learnt of the case only after the UP police got in touch with us and provided all assistance. A complaint has been lodged by Barkat and we have already initiated a search for Mannan," said Praveen Tripathy, SP, South 24-Parganas.
