Bhaskar Sting : Give me 1.25 Lakh, I guarantee I will get you an 18-20-year-old girl from Bihar, have settled 10-15 relationships so far.
In Morena
district, a network of brokers who buy and sell girls from Bihar and Uttar
Pradesh for one and a half lakh rupees is active to get older men married.
Recently, the case was revealed when a girl brought from Ambah from Bihar in
Ambah accused her in-laws of harassment. On the complaint of this girl who
turned out to be a minor in the investigation, the action is being taken to
register a case against her husband and her in-laws.
After this case, Dainik Bhaskar did a sting operation and
contacted the people associated with such network, then a broker bluntly said -
Give me 1.25 lakh rupees, I guarantee I will buy you to 18 to 20 years old girl
from Bihar. He also claimed to have 10 to 15 marriages by forging such
purchases. There are more than two dozen brokers active in the network, who are
looking for youths who are unable to get married even after they are
financially prosperous. These brokers buy girls from Bihar, Banaras, Chhatarpur
for more than 100 middle-aged virgins every year by taking a fee of Rs 50,000.
This trend has also increased rapidly in the upper and rich communities.
The serious thing is that 50 per cent of these brides, after
staying in the in-laws' house for two to three months, disappear with their
belongings. Half of these cases do not even reach the police stations due to
fear of social disgrace. A similar case was revealed in Ambah recently when the
girl complained against her in-laws accusing them of harassment.
Cheating Found: The girl who was bought for around 0.5- 1 lakh
absconded, missing in the police station.
1. A young man from a wealthy family living in Ganeshpura area
of the city brought a bride from Chhatarpur for one lakh rupees. Three months
later, during the lockdown, the woman came out of her mother-in-law's Nainagarh
road carrying bags in the afternoon and boarded a bus to Gwalior. From here she
took a bus and reached her village Chhatarpur. The young man gave an
application in City Kotwali and informed about his wife being missing but after
the news of her arrival at home, the family sat silent.
2. A young man from a rich family living in Jaura brought a
bride from Bihar for one lakh rupees through a broker six months ago. For two
months her daughter-in-law lived in the house harmoniously. After this, she ran
along with the cash and jewellery kept in the house. Fearing social shame, the
family did not register a complaint with the police station.
The broker said - I want 50 thousand, I will get you married in
this season only
Bhaskar reporter faked as Ramjeevan Gupta, Gwalior and talked to
Broker Bindu Baniya on his landlord's mobile number 88157-63022. The recording
of the conversation is safe with Bhaskar.
A small expert from Broker and Bhaskar's phone conversations,
Do not worry, I am guaranteeing I will do a solid job ...
Bhaskar: My son has a stall of Chat in Gwalior, has turned 35 years old. Settle
something for him.
Broker: Okay, see me tomorrow.
I live in Gwalior. Where do you want to meet, Gwalior or Morena?
Whatever you want.
Bhaskar - How much will they spend
Broker: Panditji must have told. It will cost 1.25 lakh rupees.
Bhaskar - It should not happen that our son becomes a victim of
fraud.
Broker: We guarantee, nothing like this will happen.
Bhaskar- Money to be paid at one time or in instalments.
Broker: Give me 50 thousand when it's done.
Bhaskar - The girl must be of a young age.
Broker: Brother, get it, I have a party in Vikram Ganj Bihar. My wife
also from the same village. I have done 15 ties so far. How old will your son
be and what is his colour.
Bhaskar - 34-35 years old, dark coloured, but the girl should
not be less than 20-22 years old.
Broker: You do not take tension, you will get 18 to a 19-year-old girl.
There are many in Gwalior too. I am guaranteeing I will do a solid job. If the
party comes, its expenses will be yours, and not there’s. I will go to Bihar,
bring the party and then talk.
Bhaskar - Don't worry about your expenses.
Broker: I talk to them while sitting face to face. I will get them
married in this season

Police rescue trafficked 13-year-old girl, vagabond tried to rape her
She was molested by a vagabond who later kidnapped her at knifepoint and sold her to a woman in north west Delhi. The woman was involved in child trafficking and selling girls to her clients who often look for minor girls for marriage, police said on Saturday.
On Friday, she was rescued by a team from Kotwali police station in north Delhi.
The girl had managed to escape from the custody of the child traffickers and alert police with the help of a passerby. She narrated her ordeal to the man, who then called the police control room.
At the instance of the girl, three persons, including a woman, have been arrested. Currently, police are looking for two of their accomplices.
Additional Commissioner of Police (North) Brijendra Kumar Yadav said the girl was produced before the child welfare committee, where her statement was recorded before being handed over to an NGO for counseling.
In her statement, the girl said that she lived with her parents, both labourers, in outer Delhi’s Rohini. Ten days ago, she fled from the house over being scolded by her parents.
After leaving home, the girl went to Chandni Chowk in central Delhi and started earning her livelihood as a ragpicker. Since she had no place to live, the girl started to sleep on pavements outside Old Delhi railway station.
On Monday night, the girl was sleeping on the pavement when a vagabond, identified as Nasir, attempted to rape her. He fled when the girl raised an alarm. Nasir returned with two accomplices – Punjabi and Raja – on Tuesday night and kidnapped the girl at knifepoint in an auto-rickshaw.
“They took her to Hasina’s house at Wazirpur JJ Colony in north west Delhi. Hasina kept the girl in confinement for two days and took Rs 1,500 as token money from a client who wished to marry the girl,” Yadav added.
Won trust, fled
When the girl realised that she was in trouble, she convinced Hasina that she would marry her client and this helped her win Hasina’s trust. On Friday, she somehow escaped from Hasina’s house and sought help from a passerby who in turn called police.
On the basis of her complaint, a case under Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was filed and police arrested Hasina, Nasir and Raja, while Punjabi and Hasina’s client are still at large.
Further probe into the case revealed that this was the second time that the girl fled from her home. While her parents had filed her missing complaint the first time, they did not even bother to approach police this time.

(Un)wanted women
Female foeticide is a major factor resulting in trafficking of women from across the country to Haryana for forced marriages and the situation has only been worsened by widespread unemployment and the low status accorded to women in the State, says the first-ever UN commissioned report on human trafficking in Haryana.
Most of the women brought to Haryana for forced marriages are from Assam and West Bengal and the districts of Karnal, Mewat, Rewari, Kurukshetra, Jind, Yamuna Nagar and Hisar in Haryana are the major destinations for these trafficked women, says the report titled ‘Current Status of Victim Service Providers and Criminal Justice Actors in India on Anti-Human Trafficking’, adding that the process of bridal migration was gaining momentum in the State and the sale and trafficking aspects of it needed immediate attention. In Mewat, there are many women who are being brought from States like Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh and are forced to get married against their will. These girls are popularly known as “Paro”.
According to a 2004 report by non-government organisation Shakti Vahini, 100s of young girls and women are lured and sold into involuntary marriages in North India, says the report on human trafficking. They are bartered at prices that vary depending on their age, beauty and virginity and exploited under conditions that amount to a modern form of slavery. Although trafficking of women and girls has become a lucrative and expanding trade in these regions, it routinely escapes effective administrative and social sanctions and the general response is to deny the existence of any such problem.
A large number of women are also trafficked to Haryana from Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh for domestic work and are forced to work under bonded labour like conditions, according to the report. Gurgaon and Faridabad are the major destinations for the girls and women trafficked to Haryana for domestic work and a large number of them even become victims of sexual exploitation, says the report. The trafficked domestic helps, mostly minor girls, are supplied in Haryana by the placement agencies operating in Delhi and once these children land up in their employer’s house they end up in slavery. In many cases, these children become the victims of sexual exploitation at the hands of either the placement agency owner or the employer themselves. The placement agencies illegally run their business and have good links in the source areas. The agency owners bring girls from the source states with the help of their organised network and employ them as bonded labour.
Most of the victims are trafficked through railway routes and they are transited via Delhi. These women and girls are also sent to the border areas of Rajasthan from Haryana.
According to the report, the Haryana Government has initiated various schemes for the care and protection of trafficked victims and children. However, there is an absence of monitoring mechanism and minimum standards of victim care and protection and it was highlighted when the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights team detected cases of selling of infants and sexual exploitation of girls at a State-supported “Swadhar” Home in Rohtak recently.
Sounding the warning bells, the report says it may take Haryana more than 50 years to reach its natural sex ratio even if the Government ensures that not a single sex determination takes place in the State. The demand for marriageable age girls will be much more intense in the coming years and the demand met by inter-State marriages. The challenge before the State of Haryana as well as regions of Western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan is to ensure that the bride demand is not catered to through human trafficking. The governments in these regions should ensure legislations which protect the rights of women and children, says the report.

Man ‘buys’ minor bride from Delhi for Rs 20,000
Bride runs away from husband's home citing age gap after her mother slips away to Delhi
» Husband, booked for rape, says he has been cheated as he was told the girl was 20-year-old
» NGO suspects it is a case of child trafficking as the man paid girl's mother for marriage
| Childline volunteers spotted Rajesh Parmar’s runaway bride at Kalupur railway station |
The case unravelled after Childline volunteers found Manju (name changed) at the railway station and brought her to their office in Paldi. NGO's Assistant Director Purnima Gupta said when taken into confidence, Manju said she was 15-year-old and used to live at Sultanpur in Delhi with her grandmother Ratna and aunts after her step mother went to live with another man a few months ago.
Her father had died some years back. A couple of months ago, the grandmother came to visit her relatives in Sardarnagar in Ahmedabad while Manju stayed back in Delhi with her aunts. In April-end, her grandmother called her to Ahmedabad and on May 1 got her married to 31-year-old Rajesh Parmar, a vegetable vendor who lived in the neighbourhood. Ratna brought Manju back as part of social custom and about five days ago, she was sent back to her husband’s house, again as custom demanded.
