A team of North 24-Parganas police, along with some NGO activists and Delhi Police, raided the brothel at Kamala Bazar and rescued the two students. They were brought back the state on Monday.

One of the two girls, a Class-X student of Haroa, had been trapped by a middle-aged woman, who had introduced herself as a recruitment agent and taken her phone number. Later, a youth named Rohan, who claimed to be the woman's brother, started calling her up regularly and then proposed to her. She was assured of a job after marriage.

They got married on June 24. Rohan then sent her to Delhi with another woman, whom he introduced as his relative. She was taken to the brothel instead. She informed police through an NGO. During the raid, police also rescued a Class-IX student from Basirhat.

Rohan alias Sk Sabir, Roshni, who sold the girl, and Pranjira Khatun, who posed as the recruiting agent, were arrested and remanded in police custody, said North 24-Parganas SP Tamnoy Roy Choudhury.
