Bring the issue of bride trafficking into political discussion.
Dear friends and Guardians,
Im delighted to share that Bride trafficking survivor and head of our programms in Mewat Ghaushia Khan is going to contest Assembly election from Nuh Assembly seat of Mewat to bring the issue of bride trafficking and other forms of VAW into political discussion.
We witnessed a recent controversy made by BJP leader OP Dhankar about importing girls from Bihar for Haryanavi Youths and politicization of “Notion of Honour” by the name of Love Jihad. The political class of Haryana is always an ignorant and highly patriarchal especially for Issues related to women. By contesting this Assembly election we can put this problem in political arena which will may resulted in mass mobilization against the menace of Bride Trafficking and a policy level change.

Most of you are well aware that EMPOWER PEOPLE was founded to combat Bride trafficking and its contributing factors in Destination and source areas. As of Bride trafficking is a result of many social and historical reasons we are trying to involve people from all sake of life, different stake holders and local community leaders.
We are focusing in social empowerment of Bride trafficking survivors to ensure their safe and secure life in destination area. Hundreds of Paro/ Molki women successfully claimed their property rights and inheritance for their children and enjoying their familial rights (however it is still not satisfactory and we are continuously working to ensure their right).
And to continue our struggle we have decided to contest this assembly election.
