Wife missing, man blames mediator
SIRSA: In another implication of a skewed sex ratio in this district, a resident of Dhaban village, on Saturday alleged that he was cheated of Rs 40,000 by a mediator for finding him a bride.
The unhappy newlywed said his wife has left him twice within three months of their marriage for money.
The aggrieved groom, identified as Nazar Singh, lodged a formal complaint with Badagura police station. Police have registered a cheating case against the mediator and have started investigations.
"My nephew Nazar Singh got married to Babbli Rani in February 2011 in a village of Rajasthan. We paid Rs 40,000 to the mediator, Mahender Singh, for finding a bride," said Mithu Singh, his uncle.
Mithu alleged the girl fled within 15 days of the marriage. It was only after the family informed Mahender about this that he tracked the girl and sent her back to groom's house. After staying with him for two months, she again went missing on Friday night, added Mithu Singh.
"A case under various sections has been registered against the mediator. We have started investigations and we will find the girl soon. No arrest has been made so far," Devender Nain, SHO of Badagura police station, said. TOI
