Mother of 4, Puri woman sold as bride to a MP man. Rescued from Madhya Pradesh
Thanks to the Puri Police, Dalit woman Daudi Mallick, a victim of trafficking, has finally been rescued from Madhya Pradesh, where she had been sold off and was being tortured.
The joint efforts of MP’s Ashok Nagar police and Puri police helped locating the woman along with her handicapped girl child. After her arrival at the Puri railway platform at about 11am on Tuesday by the Ajmeer-Puri express, she straightway moved to the Sadar police station for appearance along with her parents. After a preliminary interrogation, she was asked by the police to go home and reappear on Wednesday for a detailed grilling. Inspector General (Central) Saumendra Priyadarshi was relaxed after her rescue. Priyadarshi was one who had immediately ordered the Puri police to expedite the search operation and to be in touch with the MP police.
Puri SP Sarthak Sararngi said the victim was already under supervision of the Ashok Nagar police, after a request was made from his side. “I talked to SP, Ashok Nagar, personally and requested him to rescue the lady. Then the jurisdictional police rescued her and sent her to Puri,” said Sarangi.
The woman narrated her ordeal by the MP man whom she was sold off and showed some injury spots from her leg to neck. She said after interference of police and the local sarpanch, accused Dhusa Singh who had kept her a captive, sent her to Puri. He booked a ticket for her paying her handicapped daughter Rs 100, said Daudi who had not eaten anything throughout a long journey till arrival at Puri. She said Dusha was beating her every day after he knew her of being a mother of four children. He didn’t accept her even after a forcible marriage and asked her to return Rs 55,000. “One day, I ran out of home when I saw police van in the village. I lost the van as some neighbouring women dragged me into house,” said Daudi exposing a racket behind her trafficking which is operating in Puri. Notably, on October 14, Aru Mallick of Brahmagiri had lodged a complaint with the Puri sadar police that at a cost of Rs 55,000, his daughter Daudi had been sold off to one Dhusa Singh of Janata village near the Ashok Nagar railway station of MP.
