minor girl was sold by her maternal grandmother
The Haryana Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of criminals involved in human trafficking and has arrested two of its members and got three minor girls released after a raid conducted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Child Welfare Council (CWC).
A spokesman of Haryana Police said that these arrests were made following a complaint lodged at Women Police Station, Faridabad by a member of Child Welfare Council, Suman on January 28.
He said it was two years ago that a minor girl was sold by her maternal grandmother to a person Surinder for Rs 4,000.
Surinder brought the girls to his office where he allegedly sexually harassed her and then left her at someone’s residence as a domestic help. Now about 15 days ago, Mani Mishra, a friend of Surinder brought the girl to Faridabad and raped her several times by threatening her.
He also beat her and snatched Rs 30,000 which the girl had received as her wages for working as a domestic help. Therefore, the girl was admitted to Government Badshah Khan Hospital in Faridabad where she was medically examined and is still admitted there and undergoing treatment.
The spokesman said a special team of the crime branch Sector 30, police station, Faridabad, led by Inspector Sandeep Mor nabbed Surinder from the area of Police Station Surajkund on February 2. The accused was handed over to the team of ACP Puja Dabla for further investigation.
Surinder has admitted that he used to purchase girls from his neighbouring villages and sell them to Mani Mishra and members of his family for Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000. They used to supply these girls in the National Capital Region and Faridabad to work as domestic help.
Surinder has admitted that he and Mani Mishra had sexually harassed the victim several times. Surinder disclosed during his interrogation while Mani Mishra and members of his family live in a house, the girls are kept in a separate house. Surinder had also engaged a care taker namely Arun to look after these girls.
On the basis of information provided by Surinder,the police recovered three girls from the house of Mani Mishra. The spokesman said the three girls who were recovered in a raid have been medically examined at the Badshah Khan Hospital. Surinder has so far sold 25 to 30 girls to Mani Mishra, the investigations so far have revealed.
