Naga cops debate on human trafficking

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 25 (MExN): The 7th Nagaland Police State Level Debate Competition was held on Friday, February 25 at the NAPTC, Chumukedima. Jointly organised by the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi and the Nagaland Police, this year’s topic was ‘Trafficking of Women and Children is on the rise in the state of Nagaland’.
The team in favour of the motion won the competition. The ‘For the Motion’ team was led by Dy.SP Dr. Tiamenla Phom (DEF Kohima) as team leader, Dy. SP Ilam Lungalang (DEF Kohima), THC Sashila Ao (DEF Kiphire), ASI Imliwapang (DEF Mokokchung), ASI Russel Yanthan (DEF Mon), ABSI Gloria Patton (15th NAP IR) and UBSI Vikhekha Sumi (Special Branch Dimapur). The ‘Against the Motion’ debaters was led by Dy.SP Temsunochet Changkija as team leader, ASI Beno Tep (DEF Phek), ASI Wangshi (DEF) Tuengsang, ASI Moa Aier (DEF Mon), ASI Mhathung Lotha (East Police Station Dimapur) and Havildar Imtiwati Ao (9th
The judges’ panel consisted of P. Jongpong Jamir, IPS, IGP (Training & Border); Zhasa Vupru, advocate and vice president of the Dimapur Bar Association; and Along Longkumer, editor, The Morung Express. Geoffrey Yaden, editor, Nagaland Post gave the keynote address.
‘For the Motion’ team leader Dy.SP Tiamenla Phom was adjudged the best debater while her counterpart Dy.SP Temsunochet Changkija was adjudged second. ABSI Gloria Patton was third.
In the range category, Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung DEFs came first, second and third respectively. Source
