NSWC seeks report on illegal detention of Naga women from GSCW
Panaji, Oct 15 (PTI) Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSWC) has asked its Goa counterparts to submit a report on whether Naga girls were illegally detained after being rescued during a raid at a beauty parlour. NSWC Chairman Sano Vamuzo has written to the Goa State Commission for Women (GSCW) seeking a detailed report on the raid conducted on a beauty parlour at Porvorim near here on September 9, in which 11 girls including six Naga girls were rescued, sources said. Vamuzo has sought clarification on whether Naga girls were illegally detained after the raid. The letter also requested GSCW to provide all possible assistance to the girls, the sources said. Police had said that the Naga girls were forced into prostitution after being trafficked in the state under the pretext of getting them jobs as beauticians. GSCW Chairman Ezilda Sapeco said that they have asked Women Police station to submit a detailed report, including legal aspect of the raid. She said the report would be soon forwarded to the NSWC. After the raid, police had said that the beauty parlour owner was pushing girls into sex trade. The raid was conducted based on a letter written by Mizoram police. IBNLIVE
