Odisha: Massage parlour raided in Bhbubaneswar, 4 arrested, 11 girls rescued -
Report by Priyabrata Nayak, Bhubaneswar: Amid allegations of flesh trade being carried out in pursuance of massage parlour, commissionerate police on Thursday raided three noted parlours located near Cuttack-Road and arrested four male customers. During raids police also rescued eleven females who were working in those establishments. Prior to the raids owner and male staffs of these parlours managed to give police a slip. Sources said police received information that some massage parlour are carrying out prostitution by way of full body massages and saloon. Based on the information, police in at least five teams stormed into several parlours meant exclusively for men located along side of Cuttack-Road comes under laxmi Sagar police limit. During the raids police found some male customers were receiving massage in compromising position. The police booked cases against three establishments You Like, Traffic Jam and One Star parlour under Urban Police Act. Police also conducted raids at different private residences on allegation of prostitution but found nothing illegal there. “These parlours were functioning without valid licenses and were turned into brothel carrying out flesh trade. We are planning to hold massive raids in future,” said a police official. Following the arrest police rushed the accused and 11 girls rescued from the parlour to Capital Hospital for medical tests. While the rescued girls have been lodged at a short stay home accused will be forwarded to court tomorrow. Carrying out of flesh trade in pursuance of gents parlour came to fore after a 24-year-old girl who had been working at a parlor in Sahidnagar committed suicide couple of months back. In her suicidal note she alleged that her employer was forcing her to indulge in sex with the customers. This is not the first time where customers were arrested and female workers were rescued in Bhubaneswar. On October last year in a joint operation Kharvela Nagar and Sahidnagar police raided two parlours and arrested 10 customers and rescued seven females. Same month Airfield police busted a sex racket gang running at an apartment where two girls from West Bengal and apprehended three people. Next month Special Squad sleuths conducted raid at a slum under Sahidnagar police station rescued nine young girls and nabbed three accused. In another incident Capital police swung into action and raided a hotel near Ashok Nagar. Police nabbed two customers along with rescuing six girls from there. -
