Speaking on the occasion, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai stated that many children are tortured and discriminated outside the State after taking them away from their parents in the name of giving free education, jobs and other facilities and urged the parents not to fall prey to such false promises.

The Minister pointed out this is not the first time that children of the State have been rescued from children homes in other parts of the country where they were made to live under unhealthy environment and condition.

The Social Welfare Department in collaboration with CWCs will continue to launch crack down on such children homes.

Maintaining that the department will keep those children whom their parents are not willing to take back to their homes including orphans at children homes run by the department, the Minister assured that the children will be provided free education and other necessary facilities under the SSA.

Minister Mirabai also appealed the parents/guardians in all the districts to consult the District Child Welfare before sending their children to outside to get rid of discrimination and exploitation.

Today's ceremony was also attended by L Ibobi, Director of Social Welfare Department; Joy, Deputy Director of the departments, staffs and chairmen of CWCs.
