Girl lured from Assam, sold twice
Branded as a hub of girl trafficking by United Nations, the northern state of Haryana saw another instance of an outstation girl being ‘sublet’ by her original buyer to two men each of them further selling the victim. In course of all these inhuman transactions, the girl was allegedly raped by four men, eaching doing it for than a week.
The harrowing tale of 19-year old Assam girl came to light on August 18 after she gave a slip to her captor in Haryana village and fled to Delhi. En route her train journey to the Capital, she met social a activist who after hearing her plight helped her lodge a FIR at Sarai Rohilla police station in the Capital.
The Statesman quotes the victim telling that she was duped by promises of marriage by her villager’s friend Madan, who promised her education if she went along with him. A resident of Udalguri district, the victim claimed to have left her village in March with Madan for Biwani in Haryana.
The English daily reports that Madan sold her to one Sandeep from Budedhi village in the district, who is said to have paid Rs. 60,000 to her.
“After sexually exploiting her for a month, Sandeep allegedly handed her back to Madan alleging misbehavior with his family. The latter then allegedly married her to Bijender in another village, Chaina Badadu, for Rs. 1 lakh,” the report tells.
Bijender then allegedly raped her for 25 days and then handed her over to his brother-in-law Satyawan, who also raped her. She has alleged that one of Bijender’s friend, Sandeep, also raped her.
After months of horror, the girl managed to flee from Bijender’s captivity and caught a train to Delhi on which she met the social activist.
