Rajasthan: Sex racket busted, five girls rescued

A thriving sex racket has been unearthed after police raided in a guest house in Rampura. Naya shahar police arrested nine men and five women during a raid conducted at a guest house on Tuesday. The women were found to be in a sexually compromising position with the guests, said the police.
Based on a tip-off from an informer, a search team headed by SHO Dharam Poonia carried out the raid in the guest house. Police have arrested all those who were present in the guest house, including the staff.
Poonia said that complaints of illicit activities at the Shalimar guest house have been reported periodically. He added that guest manager Ayub Khan, used to supply girls to customers. He was arrested alongwith a pimp and two customers. Soon, large number of local residents gathered outside the hotel. The locals claimed that they were not aware that the guest house was being used for such activities.
The police said that girls were mainly brought from Sri Ganganagar, Nepal and Kolkata. The accused were produced before the court on Tuesday.
Police said that the racket has been running in the guest house for close to three years. Girls, caught during the raid, testified that they have been coming to the hotel for close to three years. They added that the pimp used to present them to the customers after a rate was fixed with the later. Some people claimed that they were aware the hotel used to supply girls. They claimed that they were scared to report to the police since the hotel owner has considerable political connections. A women caught during the raid confessed that she entered the business for money. The women hailing from Kolkata claimed that she hailed from a poor family and without much education she found it hard to sustain her family. The women said that she used to do odd jobs to earn bread for the family before she entered the trade. She claimed that the pimp used the situation and lured her into the trade. The woman also confessed to have come to the hotel before . An accused, who was caught during the raid, managed to escape. However, police claimed that the man was only brought for questioning in connection to the case. The locals, however, refused to buy the police version claiming that five men were caught in the liaison along with the five women during the raid. |
