It was learnt that ten days ago, the girl had gone with one Shankar to work in a wedding in Rajasthan. The accused had, reportedly, asked for permission of the girl’s relatives before taking her with him. 

But, the victim’s relatives smelled a rat when Shankar returned from the wedding without the girl. On being questioned by the girl’s folks, Shankar couldn’t convince them that the girl was safe.

This prompted the victim’s kin to approach the Chandan Nagar police station and lodge a missing complaint for the girl. When the police enquired about the girl’s whereabouts from Shankar, he revealed that he had married the girl away and sold her for Rs 1.5 lakh.

Later, even the victim called her relatives in Indore and narrated her plight.  Dainik Bhaskar
