Girl Sold Off For Rs.60,000
A 15-year old girl of Noida has been reported missing since three months and she was allegedly sold off for marriage for Rs.60,000. The police found the girl and then retained her at the Mahila Police Station for a week which breaks the rule of not keeping children at the police station overnight.
The girl's mother claimed that her daughter ran away from the house three months ago, as a result of her step father's torture and she said that the girl was then found by a lady and she kept the girl along with her for a couple of days. The lady then sold her daughter for marriage to a man in Greater Noida for Rs.60,000, the mother said. The police have arrested the man the girl was married to.
A case has been filed and the police said that they sent the girl for medical examination. They also added that they had to retain the girl due to the spate of holidays around Diwali. They also said that the girl would be presented in front of the Child Welfare Commission (CWC) on Thursday.
