Girl rescued from Haryana village
According to NGO Shakti Vahini, an operation by Anti- Human Trafficking Unit of HaryanaPolice of Bhiwani district rescued the16 year-old from a Haryana village on October 19. The girl is a native of Kamrup district of Assam who was trafficked and forced to marry a person in a Haryana village.
The girl was lured by one Abdul under the influence of sedatives and brought to Delhi. The girl told the NGO during counselling that Abdul used to follow her up whenever she come out from home and gradually convinced her of a better life. One day the girl was lured by Abdul to a restaurant and given some sedatives along with the snacks. Abdul brought her to a Haryana village and sold to one Ajit for Rs.45000. Ajit subjected her to slavery and abused her sexually.
The girl’s family had lodged a missing complaint with the Noonmati police station on October 5. “Shakti Vahini received the information by email that a 16-years old girl from Assam was trafficked and was further told that the girl called her family one day and narrated her plight.
Meanwhile, the ADGP, Crime of Haryana K. Selvaraj was contacted by Shakti Vahini for his assistance. With the help of the Haryana police, the girl was traced in Pinjokhara village of Bhiwani district and was rescued.
Shakti Vahini with the help of the AHTU and local police first raided the place which is the corresponding address of the mobile number from which the girl called. But unfortunately, nobody was found in this address. Later, the rescue team found out that the mobile is being used by one person in Pinjokhara village. The team rushed there and raided a house from where the girl was rescued.
The girl was counselled by the Shakti Vahini counsellor and was sent for medical examination after which she has been taken to a shelter home.
