Human trafficking racket busted; two women among eight held
Betul (MP), Apr 4 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang involved in human trafficking with the arrest of eight persons, including two women. The gang was busted with the help of Rajasthan Police and four minor girls hailing from the city were rescued from different parts of the desert state, police said. On March 29, a complaint was filed in Ganj Police Station here by one Guddu Ojha about disappearance of four girls after which police sounded an alert in all neighbouring districts and states, Betul Superintendent of Police (SP) Lalit Shakyawar told reporters. Ojha is the father of one of the missing girls, who all were close friends. Police later got to know that the girls were taken to Rajasthan following which a police team was sent there, he said. MP Police, with help of their Rajasthan counterparts, reached Jhalawar district's Peetapura village and found two of the missing girls, both aged 11. They told the police that a person, identified as Karan Singh Tanwar, and his wife Premabai persuaded the four to come with them to Hoshangabad railway station. From there they were taken to Peetapura via the Bhopal-Biora route. The other two girls were sold by the duo for Rs 65,000 at Bhawani Mandi village in the name of marriage. Police rescued them from Bhawani Mandi from captivity of one Kalu, whom they were sold. The girls alleged Kalu had raped them while his parents and brother used to beat them, the SP said. Police have arrested Premabai, Karan Singh, Kalu, Raju, Shyamlal, Jagdish and Champalal and another woman Draupdibai, all members of the gang. Raju and Shyamlal were related to Kalu.
