Locals rescue teenage girl from being sold to brothel at Daulatdia
Goalanda, Aug 21 (UNB) - A teenage girl was rescued by the locals from being sold to brothel and the pimp handed over to the police.
Police said a young man, Sadeq Mollah, brought Hasina (not the real name), 17, in front of Jhanu Bariwali at Daulatdia brothel at about 8 pm Saturday. Apprehending the impending situation, the girl raised alarming cries. Locals assembled and held Mollah and the girl, who were later handed over to the police.
Hasina is daughter of poor peasant Ismail Pramanik of Bagmara in Rajshahi district. Weeks ago she went to her maternal uncle’s home in Comilla. Mollah, a distant relative, brought her from there with promise to reach her home, police said quoting Hasina..
Mollah was sent to prison and Hasina to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for medical test when they were produced before the court today.
