Five minor girls rescued, 5 held in human trafficking case
Mandsaur(MP), Aug 10 (PTI) City police today claimed to have rescued five minor girls with the arrest of five members of the Banchda tribe in a human trafficking case. The victims, aged between 6-13 years, were recovered from Ujjain and were rescued before they could be forced into flesh trade, Mandsaur SP G K Pathak told reporters here. The accused have been identified as Aakya Umaheda 70, Bibu 52, Rajesh 30, Uttam 35 and Seema 35, he said. During interrogation they revealed that among these girls, two were stolen from a local hospital by a nurse who later sold them to Banchda tribe members, Pathak said adding one of the baby was sold when she was just one-day-old. Efforts are on to trace their parents, the officer said. In its drive against illegal human trafficking, Mandsaur police have rescued 51 girls from the captivity of the Banchda tribe and arrested 76 people in the recent past, Pathak said.
