Anti-human trafficking unit comes up
LUCKNOW: After Mahila police stations, the state capital and 11 others districts of Uttar Pradesh have got one more specialised police station. Interestingly, this police station has come up after an initiative of the Centre, despite the fact that police and law & order are state subjects.
Named as Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, it has now started functioning as a fullfledged police station in the city. Cases related to human trafficking and other atrocities such as child labour, bonded labour, forcing someone into sex trade and human trafficking by forging their documents would be looked into by this unit.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, which came into its current shape after a meeting held on February 17, 2011 in New Delhi, would be responsible for collecting information to lodging FIR, conducting raids, making arrest and investigation.
