Four lawyers detained for aiding women trafficking
Rajkot, May 31 (PTI) Four lawyers were detained here today for their alleged involvement in an inter-state trafficking racket.
The racket came to light when a girl, hailing from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, fled from her husband''s house just after marriage and narrated to her parents that she was sold to Haresh Soni, a man from Porbandar, at Rs 80,000, police said, adding the man has been arrested.
Meanwhile, the girl''s father lodged a missing complaint with Jabalpur police who discovered that she was last seen with a person named Dharmendra alias Mirchi who along with his women accomplices had ensnared the girl under the pretext of offering job in Gujarat and sold her, police said.
A joint team of Jabalpur police and Railway Protection Force today detained the four advocates -- Dhaval Mehta, D B Gangani, Shailesh Kamdar and Rajendra Kotak -- for aiding trafficking of minor girls by faking their age with false affidavits.
A hunt has been launched to trace four more suspects involved in the racket, police said. MSN
