Trafficked Uzbek girl rescued, 2 held
The 27-year-old was rescued at 6.30am from a Calangute hotel by a police team led by Calangute PI Manjunath Dessai. Police have recorded the girl's statement and have sent her to a state protective home. The woman had arrived in Goa on a tourist visa last month.
When police raided the hotel room, they found the woman with Sharath Krishnamoorthy, 25, and Kartik Ravindranath, 25 in a compromising position. Police have arrested Krishnamoorthy and Ravindranath under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act (ITPA).
During investigations, police discovered that the tourists had contacted two persons in Goa through the internet and had planned to meet the girl in Calangute. Once in Goa, the accused contacted the persons in the state, who then sent the woman to them. Police are trying to trace the two persons who had forced the woman into prostitution.
