Minor girl rescued from kidnapper’s custody
HYDERABAD: A minor girl, who was kidnapped from Sultan Bazar allegedly by her relatives, was rescued by the city police from custody of kidnapper in Warangal today.
Though the 14-year-old girl was rescued, she was allegedly raped by her relative when she was in his confinement.City police, in a press release, said that based on information given by the victim’s family, one Praveen Kumar, a relative of the victim, went to the girl’s school in Sultan Bazar on Dec 31 and asked her to accompany him to an unknown location.When she refused to join him, he threatened her of dire consequences.Then he took the girl to Hanamkonda in an RTC bus and kept her confined in a room there.During the confinement, he allegedly raped her. “Later Praveen Kumar contacted the victim’s family members and demanded that they perform his marriage with the minor girl. Kumar has been having interest in marrying the girl from a long time,” police said.Based on credible information, task force police raided a house in Hanamkonda and arrested Praveen Kumar and rescued the girl.
