Eight girls including four minors rescued from red light area -
NAGPUR: Eight girls, including four minors, were rescued by the police during a raid at Ganga Jamuna on Wednesday evening after Lakadganj police stormed an apartment in the red light area.
Two women, allegedly involved in the racket, were also arrested during the raid.
The police team led by senior inspector Pramod Makkeshwar, swooped down on the Bhaskar building which had the notoriety of housing organised flesh trade rackets involving minors. During the action, Bindu Kalkhor and Laila Kalkhor were arrested for owning brothels where minors were forcibly involved in prostitution.
Zonal deputy commissioner of police Kishor Jadhav had initiated sustained drives against brothels in the red light area. Several minor girls had been rescued during such raids. Cops led by DCP Jadhav had rescued 16 minors in a recent raid.
The girls, rescued during the latest action, would be sent to the government shelter home. An offence has been registered against the two arrested.
