15-yr-old rescued from rapists
Two persons including an auto driver tried to rape a 15-year-old girl, but she resisted and alerted neighbours.
"At around 10.30 am, the girl, a migrant from Karnataka and resident of Chilkul village of Patancheru mandal, was waiting for an auto at Isnapur X Roads to go to her residence. An auto driver Prashant and his friend Raju picked up the girl," KPHB sub-inspector Moulana told TOI.
They took her towards Yellammabanda. The girl, who noticed that they were taking her in a different route, tried to raise an alarm, but due to language problem she could not grab the attention of passersby. Later, the duo reached Yellammabanda and took her to a room belonging to the auto driver's friend. There they gagged her and tried to rape her. The girl's screaming attracted the attention of neighbours who went to the room to find out what was happening. As they learnt the fact, they caught the duo and thrashed them, the police said.
However, even as the people were planning to call over the police and hand over the duo to them, the latter freed themselves from their clutches and fled the scene. The neighbours then handed over the girl to the police.
A case was registered under sections 376 (rape) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the auto driver and his friend, based on the compliant lodged by the girl's parents, the SI Moulana said.
