Sikkimese minor girl sold in Haryana brought back home by CID
The minor girl was today sent for medical examination at SNTM hospital here today and was later handed over to her parents again by the CID.
A CID team had gone to Jarjar last week to rescue back the minor girl following a compliant lodged by her parents at Singtam police against one Anita Biswakarma from Temi on July 23. The parents had alleged that the lady had sold off their daughter to some persons at Jharjar in January earlier this year.
The accused lady was immediately arrested by Sikkim police and contacts were established with their Haryana counterparts to trace out the missing girl.
A case under section 5(c) of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956 has been registered against the accused lady.
Following the subsequent investigations, a CID team left for Haryana last week, traced out the minor girl and brought back to her home here in Sikkim on August 18. The girl was handed over to her overjoyed parents by the CID who has notched up another major achievement.
The parents have expressed their profuse thanks to Sikkim Police and CID for recovering back their daughter.
It is informed that the CID had to overcome many problems during the efforts but eventually succeeded in bringing back the minor girl.
The accused lady is presently in judicial custody here at Rhongyek Jail while her husband, Rajendra Jaat is still absconding.
In fact, it has been claimed that Anita had handed over the minor girl to her husband who stays at Jharjar. The husband, in turn, had then allegedly sold off the girl to another person in the same area as a bride for Rs. 50,000.
It was also reported that girls from other parts of the country are being sold in Haryana as brides due to skewed girl ratio in that State. Women population has dropped down in Haryana due to female infanticide over the years forcing the men to adopt illegal means to get married.
Various individuals posing as employment agents have been luring girls from other States to Delhi on the pretext of job and then selling them to Haryana as brides.
Once such agent, Anita Biswakarma who is already married in Haryana had taken the minor girl from Lower Bardang to work as a domestic help in New Delhi on January. She had promised a monthly salary to Rs. 5,000 to the girl and had paid an advance sum of Rs. 2,000 to her parents.
Later in the month of July, the girl somehow managed to call a villager at Bardang informing that she had been sold off by the lady। Her father then lodged a complaint in the Singtam police station. (VOS)
